Individual running trophies can recognise much more than simply finishing first. Awards for fastest male and female runners, age-group winners, most improved athlete and club champion can give competitors additional targets to aim for.
Running clubs may also present annual awards for dedication, attendance and contribution to the club. These awards help celebrate the wider community surrounding running and recognise people whose contribution may not always be reflected in race results.
